Two New Short Positions For Wednesday’s Market

October 30, 2007

KEEP THESE SMALL. THIS MARKET IS CRAZY WITH SO MANY STOCKS DOING SO POORLY IN THIS BULL MARKET BUT YET SO MANY CLEAR SHORTING PLAYS ARE FAILING. SO OBVIOUSLY IT IS NOT TIME TO SHORT THIS MARKET IN BULK. IF YOU ARE A NEWBIE, STAY AWAY FROM ALL OF THESE SHORT PLAYS, UNTIL YOU SEE GOOG, RIMM, GRMN, AAPL, AND BIDU CRASH.

new short positions: ATI MI

ATI is breaking down below the 50 day moving average right after failing to get above the 200 day moving average, on below average volume. Cut your first loss with a close over the 50 day moving average and your final loss with a close over the 200 day moving average, if the stock does not move lower immediately.

MI is breaking down below the 50 day moving average after failing to get back above the 200 day moving average, on very strong volume. This is an extremely weak stock: if you look at its RS line you can see it is well into new lows even though price is still above the August lows–very negative divergence. Also notice the RS line dropping like a rock while the stock moved up and sideways from July 2006 to March 2007. Cut your loss with a close above the 50 day moving average, if the stock does not move lower immediately.
