SMRT 6-7-00 to 11-7-00

December 24, 2007 | Leave a Comment

SMRT was not a huge winner but I did purchase plenty of this stock to make a big difference in my account at the time, while the market did not do much at all. In five months SMRT produced a solid 75% gain. It wasn’t so much the return but the nice setup that made going long this stock an easy decision.

LPNT 4-25-00 to 10-13-00 and 12-27-00

December 23, 2007 | Leave a Comment

LPNT was another strong performer during a time when the market trended slightly up and then began its long crash. During the start of the real selling, the stock held up and by the end of it some nice gains were produced during a time when the market gave it up.

One New Speculative CANSLIM Long Position And Six Stocks I Am Adding To My Existing Long Positions For Monday’s Market Session

December 22, 2007 | Leave a Comment

I think that all of these longs that I have found on Friday all make great longs as long as you don’t load up on any one. I am just one of those investors/traders that believe that you should not load up your port with just one stock. I know that spreading out my positions may have hurt me a tad on my returns but it has helped me prevent big losses and prevent consistent losses. CG is great with it being right on the 50 dma with the volume very strong recently showing the strong accumulation in the stock. However, the recent price action has the stock trending down a bit so it is hard for me to want to load up on it. If the base was longer and if BOP was max green and not dipping, there is no doubt I would want a lot of it. But I think since we are in the middle of a Santa Claus rally and since we are not sure how real today’s accumulation was on the indexes or not it is probably best to not push it on any of these. However, they all deserve to have a position, if you have the funds. They all look great but nothing is perfect so nothing deserves a huge position.

Two New Short Positions For Monday’s Market Session

December 22, 2007 | 4 Comments

Both setups are very solid with CCMP being what I would consider a perfect setup price and volume wise. However, the lack of red BOP is a definite “stop sign” in the Lamborghini ride of “should I load up on this stock?” The answer is an obvious no, especially with the market showing very good strength on Friday on higher volume. If that rally came on lower volume, I would be considering making CCMP a larger position, with or without red BOP. EPIQ is a tad too far away from the 50 day moving average to be considered a safe recommendation. However, if you go short just a little and you are a newbie you could cut it all with a close above the 200 day moving average. If you look at the November lows and the December lows, you can see that EPIQ’s RS line is leading the stock lower and that does help the odds out. Still, with the market in a confirmed uptrend, there is no way I would consider getting short either one in bulk. Keep it manageable if you must take ‘em.

Santa Claus Rally Come Right On Schedule; If You Would Just Focus On Your Charts You Would Be Making Money–Don’t Listen To Ben Or CNBC

December 21, 2007 | Leave a Comment

It is the Christmas Holiday season and everyone is rushing around trying to finish up the last minute shopping. Luckily, I have gotten most cards and gifts mailed out to the mainland. However, there are still some things to wrap up here on Maui so I am going to write a nice commentary for the weekend and will probably avoid updating this section unless something amazing happens. You need to still check in because I might add something here and there. But for the sake of my girlfriend I think I need to spend more time with her this Christmas. I have been working on the computer too much and think it is wise to spend more time with the little family that I have on the islands.

One New Short Position And One Stock I Am Adding To My Existing Short Position For Friday’s Market Session

December 20, 2007 | Leave a Comment

Right now, with the Santa Claus rally in effect, I honestly believe it continues to be wise to keep shorts small at this point. However, FRT has an excellent setup with the death cross just occurring and now the stock putting in a very bearish intraday reversal on huge distribution. This makes this seem to me to be an excellent reward (minimum 10 points) to risk (max 3 points) ratio. MSTR is also in another great high potential reward to risk ratio. A weekly clearly shows that distribution is picking up compared to the low volume in the base that it broke down from making this stock chart look very weak. But I can’t risk too much in it because it has already bit me a little once already and the BOP is not red. The main thing is to remember that Santa Claus did come to town and that we are fighting against bullish headwinds until he leaves.
